While I understand that media, specifically in the form of news reporting, is moving away from traditional print and more towards the “pixels over paper” evolution, I have to assume that many people still look to their regional news papers for information.  Whether it be basic reporting or the occasional op-ed piece, though it may not be a “growing” industry, it is an industry.

But now that specific news papers have taken to endorsing certain candidates, how can we assure that the “reports” are not turning into the opinion-based pieces that typically grace the back pages of the front section?  When I read about Barack Obama’s rally in Youngstown, how can I be sure that everything is being reported fairly when the Plain Dealer has officially endorsed the Democratic hopeful?

I’m admittedly not as polished on political-type issues as I should be.  I’m not sure if it’s a product of my environment or simply something that never really interested me, but if I need my information, I’m going to rely on news sources to do provide such.  We all know that Fox News slants a bit, but how can we be sure that others aren’t doing the same and they’re just better at hiding it?
